Special tooling was painstakingly created for the yacht wheel and metal base to ensure each element of the unique design was reproduced exactly like the original. The metal base and case of the Chelsea Mariner is forged from thick brass. The forged brass bezel opens with the original "shield" hinge and latch design. Polished and bronzed finishes are preserved with a clear lacquer coating. The clock's face is deeply etched brass, silvered, enameled and lacquered. Wood base and back are solid mahogany. Inside, the precision wind-up mechanical timekeeping mechanism chimes the ship's bells on the hour and half hour. A uniquely satisfying way to record the passage of time.
